so im now back in new zealand. been back for about a day now and totally missing singapore. missing the crowd, the noise, the sister, the food, the cable tv, the atmosphere...everything...even the heat! sigh...how will i endure another year or so of living in nz? hmm..i think this trip has affirmed for me dat i'll definitely be going back to singapore to work in the next few years. unless someone important comes along and makes me stay in nz. rite..as if dats gonna happen. hmm.
anyways, i was flying on singapore airlines and the movies for the month of february really sucked! the new releases anyways. so i ended up watching classic movies. managed to watch a total of 4 movies!
1. An Affair To Remember: this movie is super old starring cary grant, one of the really old famous actors. this movie was heavily referred to in sleepless in seattle, which i happened to watch a few days before i left on cable tv so all the female characters in the movie loved this old movie. so dat was my big incentive to watch it. and i have to say it's like a big dramatic love story where the two leads fall in love, arrange to meet somewhere but one doesnt make it cos of an accident which leads to misunderstandings. oh the drama! i cried while i was watching it...definitely worth watching...
2. You've Got Mail: they were also showing this other tom hanks and meg ryan movie. i was curious to rewatch it cos i went to the cafe lalo in new york where they had filmed one of the scenes. this movie reminded me of new york. sigh. miss new york. another movie goodie. romance on the internet. i think ppl are more honest when they dont have to face the other person.
3. God of Gamblers: hongkong movie starring chow yun fatt and a very young andy lau. classic gambling movie. love this movie. it's a must watch.
4. The Notebook: one of my favourite movies. sigh. makes me cry everytime i watch it. cant help it. i think it's the long lasting love between the two characters dat gets to me. the fact dat noah still loves ellie dat much in their old age. the fact dat she has dementia makes it so much worse for noah to bear. seeing old couples is always such a sweet sight. makes the myth of "happily ever after" seem believable and attainable.
4 movies. 3 love stories. in the month of february. the valentine's month. watching these movies made me wish for romance. why arent real love stories as romantic?!?! i hope i can look back on my life and at least reminisce about my own romantic love story. hasnt happened yet. grrr...
nothing special for me on this year's valentine's day. thank goodness it falls on the same day as chinese new year, thus completely overshadowing valentine's day. and thank goodness i was in a country dat celebrated chinese new year.
