another update on the illness

so for those who dont kno, im actually pretty much back to normal. im no longer yellow. the only thing is i have these spots all over me which is just gonna take time to heal. either dat or ill just be scarred for life and use bio oil daily.

so when i went back to sg, i actually did seek out a 2nd opinion thru my sis's fren's brother in law who just happened to work at a hospital and he managed to get me an outpatient appointment with this assoc prof at changi hospital. he thinks i had stevens johnson syndrome and i think the culprit drug is roxithromycin, which i took in july/aug for this nasty cold i had. he said it could have been anything taken in the last 6 mths and dat was the only new drug i took dat i could think of. but anyways, my blood levels were improved. my bilirubin was done to 40 from over 300. and he prescribed me this other drug called ursodeoxycholic acid. the only thing i was not satisfied with was the cost of it all. the first consultation was abt 70 dollars. the follow up was abt 40 dollars. each blood test was abt 40 dollars. and the drugs was the killer, at 80 dollars for 2 weeks worth of meds. just goes to show the nz public health system is very good. even if it's slow. hahahaha.

so yea dats the update. now im back in nz, and will be going to see the specialist here in 2 wks time. hopefully by then, the blood levels would have finally normalised. and just hope the scars will go away. the only sucky thing now is dat ive put myself on this no alcohol policy for the next 6 mths. grrr..i could so have a beer rite now. dunno why but ive been craving beer a lot recently. strange.

and ive been back at work for a week now. been thrown into the deep end and had to just work my way ard a new hospital with their system. luckily i spent 2 wks here previously doing paeds while i was a TI so i knew how some things worked. my first long day is this wed, which im kinda dreading. ive only worked a week and i already feel like another holiday. sigh. just shows dat working life sucks. big time. im def planning on retiring early.
