Elective Part Deux

so it's been a while since i last posted..i finally recovered from my D&Vs in nepal..just in time to fully enjoy my last wk there..the last wk was great! was in paed oncology dept and altho it was kinda hardout..(as in we actually had to study)..it was good cos we were being useful by examining pts and writing in the notes and filling out forms..got to kno the kids too..some of them were soooo cute! then outside of the hosp..spent most of the time doing last minute shopping..buying souvenirs and catching up with ppl before we left..also went to this amazing place called Garden of Dreams which is like this huge garden rite by Thamel, the touristy area..and inside this garden it's so peaceful and pleasant..the air is fresh, there's no noise..and it's all green..just beautiful to just sit on the grass and look into the sky..and there was a cafe there too which had the most amazing food..it was like fine dining but way cheaper..also met lots of new ppl in the last wk..went to listen to music at nite..all good fun!

and now it's time for the second part of my elective..got to recover in sg for 2 days to just eat and shop and sleep..as well as to catch up with the family whom i havent seen since nov..so dat was really good..then off on a 24 hour journey to New York City!

been spending the past few days getting used to the city..i was staying with my fren initially and now ive moved into this manhattan apt which is on the same ave as the hosp so it's pretty convenient..the apt itself is not new but it's decent..altho there's no microwave or tv! ergh! but slowly adjusting to life here..the pace is faster..everything is bigger..the food portions are seriously huge! i had a regular salad today but it was more like jumbo size..i was stuffed after finishing it..u'd think dat a salad wouldnt be filling but this one was! so been doing the touristy things as well..walking ard Central Park, 5th Ave, going to the Met museum..all very tiring..doing lots of walking..i still cant get the hang of the public transport system here..i only kno my bus rite outside and dats it..haha..

tmr i officially start at the cancer hosp..im kinda dreading it cos im in such a holiday mood and nepal wasnt intense at all..now it's the other extreme..i was at hosp fr 9.30am to 2pm at the latest in kathmandu and now i haf to start getting used to early morns and late knockoff times..sigh..back to the real world..hopefully i dont get grilled on my first day esp since i kno nothing abt head and neck cancer..oh dear..pls pray for me and hope dat all things go well..

it's 10.34pm here now so i better head to bed early in order to wake up early..luckily i only haf to show up btw 8.30 and 9 tmr..wish me luck!
