food review: restaurant piko piko

another new restaurant. well not new. but one i hadnt been to before. restaurant piko piko is part of millenium hotel. anyways, was looking for a restaurant to go to since plan A failed. so i just randomly picked a restaurant out of the entertainment book.

before we left, we decided to "dress up" for the occasion. haha, we have nothing better to do. so dress/skirts were compulsory. no jeans. which is difficult in winter. anyways, back to the dinner.

so we got to the hotel and i have to say the ambience isnt dat great. very typical hotel restaurant. not really very fancy. it's an open concept, so the lounge is rite next door. but in a way it's good, cos we could enjoy the jazz music playing in the lounge from the restaurant as well. apparently they play live jazz every sat nite.

ambience: 6/10

the food was actually more impressive. the menu selection included a grill section as well. we only ordered mains this time. i personally wasnt very hungry. there was even a complimentary appetiser of lamb tartare with pesto and micro greens in a chinese spoon. cute. i ordered this grilled white fish with lemon kelp (seaweed) and micro greens on top. underneath was caneloni? filled with prawn and celery? the sauce was the best part, prawn bisque. yum. a very good dish overall. my fren had the angus steak, which she said was good too. and it's one of those restaurants with small portions, big plate. but the portion was just rite for me. we also had dessert. we shared this chocolate dessert which was so cute! a cone of chocolate filled with chocolate mousse, accompanied by sorbet on a stick with a small muffin thingee with sorbet on top and poppy seed mascarpone. very separated items and i didnt really see how they meshed well together but looked pretty anyways! we also had a glass of wine each. the wine list was kinda limited if u only wanted a glass. the bottle menu was much more extensive.

food: 9/10
presentation: 10/10 (just cos dessert was pretty!)

service was good too. no complaints. water was promptly refilled. food came on time. wat more can i ask for? oh except i had to ask for cracked pepper myself? but dats just being really picky.

service: 9/10

toilet was good too. well to be expected for a hotel toilet. hahaha. even had individual hand towels. hahaha.

toilets: 8/10 (not the nicest toilet ive ever seen. but if u had to compare to toilets in nepal, it would be 10/10. lol.)

so overall not a bad place to eat.

overall: 8.5/10 (i value ambience a lot.)

but the only thing is you tend to see a lot of singaporeans around. cos dats where the SIA flight crew stays and they get half price meals at the restaurant. haha. so we got stared at prob cos we were asians. it was a little weird. unfortunately didnt see any hot pilots. HAHA. but i told my fren maybe we shuld hang out there more often. lol.
